Notes for teachers:

This project took my 3rd graders 2 1/2 weeks, working 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day.

We started the project by discussing what it would take to be a hero, then finding the definition for "hero".

I allowed the partners to choose any person they felt qualified to be a hero.  Another option would be for them to pick a person with a qualification for teacher approval.

The timelines could be created in any format.   We will recreate the timelines with Inspiration software.

I would strongly recommend writing one or two persuasive paragraphs on other topics before this WebQuest.  Paragraphs could be written as a seperate class project if persuasive writing has not been covered.

If you save the Powerpoints as Webpages, the students will need to put a link back to a homepage.  A viewer will be forced to click "back" through an entire presentation to get back to a homepage if the link is left out.

You might consider letting your local postmaster to look at the designs and select one as the "winner" or the winner could be the partners with the best score on this project.

I was unable to contact the original creators to ask permission to adapt this WebQuest.
