Of all the skills that students develop, none is more important than the ability to read well. This year, Van Buren R-1 was fortunate in receiving two Comprehensive School Reform grants, both of which are being used to help students improve their reading skills. Students and teachers in grades K-12 are receiving the benefits of the National Reading Styles Program. We are excited about the possibilities for growth.
Family Life
Jeff, my husband of 28 years, and I have two sons. Tom is a senior at SMSU, majoring in sociology and psychology. Jonathan, more commonly known as "Buddy," is a senior at Van Buren High School. We enjoy playing golf and spending time on Current River. My 3 southpaws love sports of all sorts. Reading, music, and mind challenging games are other favorite pastimes. A large extended family is also important to us, so family reunions for the Keeneys are frequent and fun. In addition, I'm lucky to have 3 teriffic sisters. Together, they have given me six wonderful nieces and nephews. A real blessing in our lives is our "borrowed daughter" Christy Burrows who is only 3 days younger than Buddy and also a senior at VBHS where she is active in sports.
