in the conference for the second year in a row.
Their last win in the conference tournament against
The Tigers, who's win in the conference tournament gave them 4 championships, more than any other team, had to beat Crocker, Newburg and Iberia in route to the championship. The Tigers started out well as Daniel Hernandez pitched a perfect game in the opening round to beat the Crocker Lions 11-0. Hernandez struck out 6 in the win. Coach White talked about his hurler. "I thought Daniel pitched well. It is the first time all fall that his arm was healthy and I thought he was truly great today." The Tigers only managed to pound out 6 hits, but used 4 hit by pitches, and 4 walks to get to Crocker starter Brad Uherka. Tyler Wrinkle and Cory Kyle provided the smack as Wrinkle was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a triple. Cory Kyle was 2 for 2 with a hit by pitch, a triple and a home run. Adam Smith, Tyler Wrinkle, and Cory Kyle all scored 3 runs a piece.
In the semi-finals, the Tigers took Newburg and Aaron Gideon who is always tough to beat. Josh White took the hill for the Tigers and completely shut the Newburg Wolves offense down. White finished the game with 12 strike outs, 4 walks, and only gave up 1 hit. No runner for Newburg made it past second base. The Tigers came out swinging and put up 7 hits, to go along with 5 walks and 2 hit by pitches. Tyler Wrinkle again provided the pop with a 2 for 3 performance that included a double and a home run. Daniel Hernandez also went 2 for 3 with a triple. The Tigers put up 6 runs in the first and never looked back. "I thought our guys were dominant today in just about every facet of the game. Josh was outstanding on the hill and our hitters were patient, but attacked when given a good pitch," said a very please Scott White. This win propelled the Tigers to the championship game where the Iberia Rangers waited for the third time in three years.
In the Championship, it was all Tigers, all the time. Cory Kyle took the hill for the Tigers and was as dominant as he had been all year. He completely shut down the Rangers offense. Kyle threw 7 innings, gave up 1 run, on 1 hit, and struck out 15. Coach White smiled when asked about Cory's day. "I think there was a little motivation. I guess some people think the previous 2 years performances in the conference finals against Iberia were flukes for him. I do not know whether that played into it, but I know he is about as dominant a pitcher as there has ever been in the Frisco League. I was really happy with the way he just attacked everybody. The double he gave up was my fault. I should not have had him throw that pitch. But, we will take a 1 hitter." The bats were rocking as well as Tyler Wrinkle once again was outstanding. Wrinkle went 4 for 4 with a double and two home runs. In the first inning he hit a shot out to right center field, then turned around in the third inning and hit one out to left field. He followed that up with a double in the 5th. Cory Kyle also provided some power as he tattooed a ball to left that still hasn't landed. The Tigers only managed 6 hits, but were also given 4 hit by pitches and 7 walks on the day. The win capped off another 11-0 conference schedule for the Tigers and provided their 28th win in a row in the conference.
