EMERGENCY EVACUATION PLANS

Tornado Drills

Tornado drills will be conducted throughout the school year.  The signal will be one long continuous ring.  Upon hearing the signal, students are to walk to the basement locker room.  When possible, students should be seated with their backs to the wall.  PE classes should move to the boys’ locker room.  Shop, band, and music should move to the girls’ locker room.  The computer lab and home economics classes should enter the basement using the west stairs.  In all of the rooms, the door should be left open.  Windows should be left as they are.  The signal for students to return to their rooms will be one long continuous ring.

Chemical Spill or Wreck

In case of a chemical spill or wreck that might endanger the safety of our students, it might be necessary to evacuate.  The police will notify us and we will give instructions.  Generally, teachers will take their classes and march up Main Street.  We would pick them up, as buses were available and assemble at the TeePee Trailer Park.

Fire Drill

The following regulations pertain to fire drills in the building:

1.                  Fire drills will be conducted periodically without any advance warning.  Be ready at any time.

2.                  The signal for a fire drill is continuous short rings.

3.                  Students are to march out in an orderly manner in a single line, keeping as close  to the hall walls as possible.

4.                  Teachers are to check their respective rooms to assure that all students are out of the building.

5.                  All doors and windows are to be closed.

6.                  Class rolls are to be taken when the class teachers its designated area.

7.                  Classes are to return to their rooms in the same manner as they left when the signal is given (a bell will ring).
