Acceptable Computer Use Policy

 

1.                  User will keep their ID and password private and protected.

2.                  User will use only “school-appropriate” language and information.

3.                  User will use only “school-appropriate” Internet sites. (No chat-room; (e-mail is for authorized programs supervised by teachers.)

4.                  User will not violate software copyright laws, which includes downloading shareware.

5.                  User will not delete, examine, copy or modify files and/or data belonging to other users.

6.                  User realizes that the Seneca R-7 School District reserves the right to view any material stored in files.

7.                  User will understand intentional attempts to “crash” or disrupt, or alter the normal performance of network system(s) or program(s) will result in computer suspension.  Students will take financial responsibility for damages equipment and labor required in fixing the problem.

8.                  Students will not be permitted to change configurations (screen savers, wallpaper, shortcuts, etc.)

9.                  Students will not be permitted to use computer disks from home in any school computer.  The school will furnish disks.

 

CONSEQUENCES

 

1st Offense        1 detention and student will call parents (witnesses by the Teacher)

2nd Offense       1 Saturday School: student will call parents (witnessed by Teacher)

3rd Offense       5 days ISS & 30 days computer suspension for all classes: (this will carry over to high school).  A letter will be sent home.

 

ANY STUDENT DELIBERATELY DAMAGING OR DESTROYING COMPUTERS OR PROGRAMS WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE SUSPENDED FROM COMPUTER USAGE FOR ALL CLASSES.  STEPS 1, 2, & 3 ARE SKIPPED.
