TEACHERS

Teachers view themselves as knowledgeable, prepared, organized and focused. Teachers believe in guiding the students and motivating them to learn.

            By following school rules: dress, punctuality, and professionalism

            By establishing classroom rules, consequences, and rewards

            By teaching grade level expectations and curriculum objectives

            By helping students to develop coping skills

            By providing a solid academic foundation

            By building on student strengths and helping to develop positive character traits

            By focusing on correction, rather than criticism

           

Motivate students

            By forgiving students for inappropriate actions

            By providing student recognition and equal opportunity

            By publishing a classroom newsletter

            By focusing on improvement and creating high expectations

            By making learning fun and interesting

            By providing positive reinforcement and removing competition

            By being aware of the importance of self-concept, self-worth, and self-esteem

PARENTS

Parents are the most important model for the child. A parent is one who develops a positive self-concept for their child. They share responsibility for improving student achievement. Parents build and develop a partnership to help their child achieve academic success. They develop and implement an effective parenting plan which creates an environment that is conducive to educational success.

 

Provide positive self-concept

            By taking the time with their child to visit about each day's school experiences

            By taking time to review their child's daily work in an encouraging manner

            By praising good behavior and giving pats on the back

            By training the child to use positive life skills

ADMINISTRATORS

Administrators view themselves as knowledgeable, prepared, organized and focused. Administrators see their communication skills as an asset and their behavior as a model for students to follow. Administrators believe in guiding the students and motivating teacher performance.

BOARD OF EDUCATION

Board of Education views themselves as the overseeing body for employing top professionals in the administrative field. They are the governing body delegating administrative powers to the superintendent of schools.  The board believes in the Mathew principal which teachers that if a brother has a problem with a brother the problem should be brought first to that brother for resolution.  (Chain of Command)

 

Commitment

            The board should be unified with common goals for the school district.

            The board should discourage nepotism.
            Board members should be educated regarding the problems and potentialities of the
                 school system, and seek amicable solutions for the greater good.

 

Responsibility

            The board sets policy.  Day to day operations are the responsibility of the administration.
            Members should be familiar with their by-laws.

            Members can act officially only in sessions officially called.
            Members should attain certification by Missouri School Board Association.
            It is the responsibility of the president to keep meetings timely, professional and aligned

                 with the agenda.
            Following the chain of command in establishing responsibilities is in the best interest of
                 all concerned.
            The board makes decisions related to hiring and firing of staff upon judgments arrived at

                 by proper recommendations of the supervisory staff.
          

Accountability

            Members should be familiar with the district's financial situation and the budgetary
                 process that, by law, must follow state guidelines and audit recommendations.
            The board delegates fiscal and supervisory responsibility to the administration and

                 expects them to follow the guidelines.

 

Communication

            The board's actions, during official session and at other times, need to reflect
                 confidence that the school system is well managed and the taxpayers' monies

                 are being well spent for the betterment of the students and their futures.  Reports
                 to the public must be clear, simple, and specific.  Personnel matters should be

                 handled in executive sessions.
           The public should be given the opportunity to address problems at general meetings with
                set time limits referring only to agenda items.  Permission to speak should be
                granted in advance.
