Ginger Rogers was born July 16, 1911 as Virginia Katherine McMath. Her cousin was not able to pronounce Virginia so she called her Ginger. Miss Rogers moved from Independence with her family to Texas because her dad found a job there. Miss Rogers’ parents separated and she and her mother moved into a hotel. Her father kidnapped her two times but she was taken back to her mother. She saw her father very little. Her father died when she was eleven years old.
Ginger Rogers was fourteen years old when she first started acting. Miss Rogers attended high school and appeared in school productions. The theater became Ginger’s passion. At the age of fourteen she was also appearing in Vaudeville acts, which she did until she was seventeen.
Ginger Rogers was a famous actress and dancer. She acted and danced in over fifty movies. She lived a great life. Miss Rogers was married five times. She had one daughter named Lela. April 25, 1995, Ginger died of natural causes in California. She was eighty-three years old.
