Coca-Cola Scholars -   The electronic application for the Coca-Cola Scholars Program is available online at http://www.coca-colascholars.org/.  The scholarship was established by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and awards 250 achievement-based scholarships each year.  Recipients are well-rounded individuals with highly developed interests in their community.  Applicants are evaluated on the following:  demonstrated leadership in school; commitment to community; academic achievement; and part-time employment.  Applications must be submitted online by October 31, 2007.

University of Central MissouriPriority application deadline for Freshman Scholarships is December 1, 2007.  Students must complete an application for admission to be eligible for scholarships.  NOTE:  Departmental Scholarships have a separate application form with specific deadlines.

 

National Wild Turkey Federation Conservation Scholarship – This will be a one-time scholarship worth at least $250 to be presented by the Cooper County Limbhangers NWTF Chapter.  The local winner will be eligible to win a state level scholarship worth an additional $1000.   To be eligible, students should be graduating seniors with a 3.0 GPA; be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education; support the preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports and hold a current hunting license; and involved in school activities.  Note:  the application and information sheet states the applicant must have a current hunting license and must be a member of the NWTF JAKES program.  The hunting license is required at the time of the application, but if the applicant is not a member of the JAKES program the Cooper County Limbhangers Chapter will provide this membership.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on December 1, 2007.

Burger King Scholars Program – The 2008 Burger King Scholars Program will award up to 700 scholarships to be used for educational expenses such as tuition fees and books, during the first year of college or post-secondary vocational/technical school.  To be eligible, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher; work part-time an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year; be actively involved in community service activities; demonstrate financial need; and plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by Fall of the application year.  Applications are available online beginning October 15, 2007.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 1, 2008.

 

Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship – The scholarship is a competitive, one-time, non-renewable award of $2000 to be used in one academic year for students pursuing a degree in education.  Missouri Teacher Education Scholarship awards are contingent upon a match from the student’s chosen institution.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:  be a Missouri resident; be a high school senior or student enrolled full-time at a community or four-year college or university in Missouri; rank in the top 15% of their high school class or score in the top 15 national percentile on an ACT or SAT examination.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 1, 2008.

 

Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship – This scholarship is competitive and is a renewable award of $3000 for up to four years.  Missouri Minority Teaching Scholarship awards are contingent upon a match from the student’s chosen institution.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:  be a Missouri resident; be African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, or Native American; be a high school senior, college student or returning adult (without a degree) who ranks in the top 25% of their high school class or scores I the top 25 national percentile on an ACT or SAT examination.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 1, 2008.

 

Missouri State University Scholarships – To apply for most University scholarships, students need only to submit an application for admission to the University.  Separate applications are required for some programs and applications are available online at www.missourstate.edu/.  NOTE:  The February ACT is the last score accepted for most freshman scholarships (with the exception of the Presidential, the Multicultural Leadership and the Centennial Leaders scholarships, which use an earlier date).  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 15, 2008.

 

Sam M. Walton Scholarship – Sam M. Walton Scholarships in Business are awarded to incoming freshmen and current college students majoring in economics, finance, international business, management, or marketing at the MU College of Business.  Accountancy majors are not eligible for the Walton Scholarship.  The primary qualifications are academic achievement & financial need (you must fill out the FAFSA).  Additional consideration is given to an expressed interest in retailing.  Recipients must progress toward a business degree, work part-time (10-12 hours per week) in retailing, and participate in Walton Scholar activities while attending MU.  This renewable scholarship provides $6675 per year prior to receiving the BSBA degree.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 15, 2008.

 

Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. Scholarship – Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. Scholarships in Business are awarded to students pursuing degrees from MU’s College of Business.  This scholarship assists very good students who do not meet the qualifications for Bright Flight or other excellence-based scholarship programs such as the Curator, Excellence and Brooks Scholarships.  The scholarship provides $6675 per year and is renewable for a maximum of four years (eight semesters).  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on February 15, 2008.

 

Cooper County Nursing District Scholarship – This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a Pilot Grove High School senior pursuing a degree in health care.  First considerations will be given to a senior who wishes to pursue a degree in nursing, is in good academic standing, and active in the community, however, other students wanting to pursue a health care degree may also be considered.  Completed applications are due to  Mrs. Baer on February 22, 2008.

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Fund – Two awards of $1000 each are given each year.  One award to a boy who has attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State of Missouri.  The second award is given to a girl who has attended a full session of The American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State program.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

M.D. “Jack” Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund – Currently one $750 award is given for two successive semesters, and may, by application, be extended for two additional successive semesters.  This award is available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse, and may be used in their freshman or subsequent college years.  The student must have graduated in the top forty percent of their high school class or have a “C” or equivalent standing from their last college or university semester.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship – Five awards of $500 are given annually to individuals who are descendants of a veteran.  Applicant must have attended a full session of The American Legion Boys State or The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program.  Applicants must be unmarried, under the age of 21, a current resident of the state of Missouri and must use the scholarship as a full time student in an accredited college or university.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

Charles L. Bacon Memorial Scholarship – Two awards of $500 are given annually in memory of the first Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion.  Eligible are individuals who are currently members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or a descendant of a member of any thereof.  Applicants must be unmarried and under the age of 21, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student in an accredited college or university and a resident of Missouri.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship – Two $500 awards are given annually to a student planning on obtaining a degree in education, in honor of this Past National Executive Committeeman from Missouri.  To be eligible, individuals must:  (1) be a descendant of a veteran who served 90 or more days of active duty in the armed forces and having an honorable discharge; (2) be a Missouri resident; (3) use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university; (4) provide a copy of the discharge certificate for the veteran on whose the application is made; and (6) submit an essay of 500 words or less on the subject “In your opinion, what was the most significant world event of 2006/2007?”.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship – One $500 award will be awarded, annually.  (1) Each school in the State of Missouri may nominate one student to be considered for the award.  (2) The nominee will be selected on athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities.  The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities.  (4) Must use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.  Completed applications are due to Mrs. Baer on April 1, 2008.

 

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship – To be eligible to receive a scholarship under the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship in Missouri, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

            *This scholarship is for students who will be freshmen and may be renewed three times for a total of four years.  Students must be legal residents of Missouri and presently attending a high school (public or private) in Missouri.

            *Must be accepted by fall 2008 for enrollment at an institution of higher education.

            *Must present evidence that he/she received a test score at or above the 90th percentile on the ACT during a scheduled administration after September 1, 1985).  (NOTE:  Last year’s recipients had ACT scores no lower than 32.)

            *Must provide senior year transcripts that provide GPA and class rank of high school graduating class in the case of a regularly enrolled high school senior.

            *Must file with the institution he/she intends to attend a statement of registration status certifying the he/she is registered with the selective service or that, for a specified reason, he/she is not required to be registered.  (These forms will be sent to those individuals receiving the scholarship.)

            *Complete the blank requesting the “congressional district number of residence” on the application.

Urban Flight and Rural Needs Scholarship Program – This program provides scholarships to eligible students who enter a teacher education program and make a commitment to teach as a condition of receiving such scholarship.  The scholarship covers the total cost of eligible students’ tuition and fees up to four years, at a four-year college or university located in Missouri.  Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

            *Be a United States citizen,

            *Be a resident of Missouri,

            *Be a high school senior, a college freshman or sophomore, or returning adult student at a community college or at a four-year college or university in Missouri, or

            *Be an individual who has graduated from a Missouri high school with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a four-point scale or equivalent, or

            *Be an individual who has completed 30 college hours and has a cumulative grade point average of 2.5, or

            *Be an individual with a baccalaureate degree and has a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 who is returning to an approved teacher education program.

Ongoing Scholarships

 

AnyCollege.com – At this website, students can access information related to the college search process.  Additionally, there is a random scholarship drawing held four times per year.  Students sign up by going to http://www.anycollege.com/ and click on the “Win a Scholarship” link.  The ongoing deadlines for the scholarship are September 30, December 31, March 31, and June 30.  (Please note:  As with any internet website, users must personally evaluate the information provided and Pilot Grove C-4 School is not making an endorsement of this site.).

 

Columbia College Scholarship Days – Columbia College Scholarship Days provide an opportunity for new freshman applicants to compete for one of the 10 prestigious scholarships offered.  The Columbia College Scholarship is awarded to five students and is worth full tuition, room and board.  The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to five students awarded to five students and is worth full tuition.  To be eligible, students should be new freshman applicants with a minimum 3.4 GPA and 24 ACT who demonstrate outstanding school and community leadership.  The Scholarship Day competition includes a writing exercise and a personal interview with Columbia College faculty and staff.  Scholarship days are held December 8, 2007 and February 2, 2008.  Interested students should register at http://www.ccis.edu/day/ScholarshipDay/.  Students are reminded to reference the information that needs to be submitted one week prior to the competition.
