Food Trouble

By A. Paul W.

Once, in the year 2000, in a South American forest, there was an animal law being proposed.

“I, Tiger, Propose the following law. You should be able to eat what you want, when you want, and where you want.”

                                                                                                Signed,

                                                                                 Tiger.

At the same time, in Japan, Red Squirrel and White Panda were having so much fun abusing humans. They would sneak up on one, quickly smack the human’s backside, (Hard, mind you), and zoom away. They had a plentiful food source, with a lot to spare.

Back in South America, the law had been approved by the Hedgehogs, and the problem began.

Red Squirrel had just abused the last person they could find, so they decided to gather food, even though they had enough.

Every one was eating anything to everything that was edible that wouldn’t kill them. Literally. They were eating coconuts, mushrooms, and so much other stuff. If they kept this rate up, they’d be out of food within a week!

Well, Red Squirrel and White Panda got bored, and they said, “Lets hop on a ship, go to South America, and find a new forest, settle down, and have loads of fun.” So they hopped on a ship, sailed to America with their stash of food (500 lbs of food), got off at 1:00am, and quickly found a forest that they liked (The first one), found a temporary home, and immediately fell asleep.

Well, every one was so fat; they couldn’t get up to the watch post! The watch post is at an elevation of 300 feet above the ground, with only a narrow slide to get down.   Well, this is where the 2 stories meet. Apparently, the Japanese boys had chosen the hedgehogs cave, and they were in for a spiky surprise.

Well, White Panda woke up and heard...YEEEEOOOOOUUUUCCCHHH!!!!!!!! It was pain beyond pain and it had woken every one in the forest up. When every one had gotten there (which took about an hour), Tiger said, “What are you doing and what do you want?”

“We just want to live here and we didn’t know that some one was already living here.”

“Well, the hedgehogs are but we can find you another cave that has trees, shade, water, and lots of other things.”

“Okay, lets get going and get there because were very, very tired.”

They got there and both squirrel and panda in unison plopped down and fell asleep.

The next morning, they woke up, went and got some food from their stash of Japanese food, ate, and went to explore the forest. They tried some American food, loved it and gathered some to put in their stash of food.

In a few weeks, the forest had no food left. They didn’t know it, but the Japanese stash of food survived the intense foraging done by the Americans, and they were staying the same weight, while the Americans were slowly losing weight, a pound a week. The Japanese eventually gave in and said, “We have a secret stash of food that we were going to have all to our selves, but we’ll share it with you, if you’re fine with Japanese food.”

So the law was shredded and all the food grew back and was plentiful once more.

Sunflower

Once in a kingdom far away in the land of Barfacia There lived a Queen named Gabriella. Her parents had just died. So she had to take the throne. Well everything was going fine for the first year, but of course something had to happen. The crops were dieing out. There had been no rain for about 2 weeks. Every day people had been coming to her for food . But she knew that her chefs could not cook for them all. All the Queen could hope for now was a miracle. Well she had no clue that one was coming at her.                                                             Well, the next morning she was wakened by a loud high pitch singing. So she went to go check it out. She had a golden tray in her hand so she could knock out the thing that was in her closet. As soon as she opened the closet she saw a small fairy in a sunflower dress and hat. She was actually kind of cute. The fairy was so scared she had fainted. It took her two minutes to wake up. As soon as she did she was not very happy. “

“Why did you scare me!?!”  She said. “Well you scared me. So guess we both got scared. Well I don’t mean to be so forward but what is your name?” I said to her. “Well you’re not being forward.” My name is Sunflower the Guardian Fairy. Well I have never met such a nice human before. And since you’re so nice I will give you one wish.”  She said. ” A wish?” I said “Yes a wish.”  She said. “I wish I could have a ……….Oh I know what I want. I want rain for a week.”  The queen said demandingly. “Rain for a week? Are you sure that’s what you want.”  The fairy said “Yes I am sure.”  The queen sighed. “May I ask why you want it to rain?” Sunflower asked. “I want it to rain because the village people’s crops are dead and the rain will make them grow back.”  She said. “Oh, so that’s why you want rain? You know that you could wish for that they would have a life time supply of food.”  The fairy suggested. “You know what that is a great idea. Then that is what is what I will wish for. Ok I wish that all my village people had a life time supply of food.” She wished.  With a bibbade bobade boo of her voice,  the  wish had come true. Then she heard a loud shouting sound outside the window. It was the sound of  Joy. She ran to her window to see

The Story of Night and Day

By Savannah G.

The sun was a big, strong star, which ruled the Milky Way. He was so bright, that he illuminated all the planets. Mercury was his favorite. Mercury was always at his side. He didn’t like Pluto very much, so its punishment was to be cast way out so it didn’t get the warmth or light of the sun. Jupiter was the biggest; Sun thought he should be charged for that. So Jupiter had a big red storm that would never stop, as (long as Sun was at rule) as his punishment.

One day, the sun decided he wanted some more light. So he asked Mercury what he should do. “Go to Earth, the planet with living things, and ask her to give you the happiest, brightest female on her. Then marry her, and become TWO bright stars illuminating us planets.” he said. Sun did just what wise Mercury said to do. Earth gave him an Alaskan beauty named Luna. When Luna found this out, she was mad! She didn’t want to be a star. When Sun saw her, he loved her. Luna ran all over the Earth making night. Then Sun found her footprints and made it day again. Sometimes, when she runs, Sun catches up a bit making her look like a tiny sliver. On vary rare occasions, she gets tired and Sun finds her. That causes a Lunar Eclipse

Luna was not a star, but she stayed in the sky.

Her children were called the “stars.” They loved to tell stories, but they liked to hear them from Luna (now called Moon) even more! She told them stories of life on Earth. While she told the stories, the stars drew pictures in the sky. Luna’s brother was named Constellations, she missed him very much. So she named their pictures after him.

Even though we need her to run, she HATES all the running. That is the story of night and day.
