The members of congress are so glad that you have accepted the responsibility of designing this new monument. They want you to get started right away.  In teams of four, you will be researching the three branches of government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.  It is your responsibility to learn all that you can about the role of each branch.  Keeping what you have learned in mind, your group will build a scale model of your monument idea.  You will also create a visual display which will help visitors to understand the purpose of your monument. This can be a written display which would be placed at the entrance of your monument for visitors to read, or a multimedia display which they could view. The congressional members also want to know the exact placement of your monument on the Washington Mall, so you must include a map of the mall, showing where you plan to build your design. You have five weeks to complete this project and have it ready for presentation at the Capitol Building.
