School Nurse: Kristie Dittemore RN, BSN
Works 21 Hours or 3 Days/Week.
Graduated from MWSU with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989. Nursing Experience includes: 20 years in the ICU/CCU, 10 years Critical Care Clinical Educator, and School Nursing 5 years. I am currently certified to instruct First Aid, Basic Life Support with AED, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. If anyone is interested in holding a card for any of these certifications please contact me.

Heather is certified in First Aid/Heartsaver AED and Medication Administration. Heather has phone access to Kristie Dittemore RN, BSN during the days she is not scheduled to work at the school.

These screening are also performed on request by faculty. If any parent is concerned about their child, please call 567-2527 and ask for Kristie or Heather. We will be glad to complete any of the above screenings at your request.
Immunizations
Effective in the 2010-2011 school year the following requirements will be implemented:
Tdap will be required for all incoming eighth grade students
2nd dose varicella for all incoming kindergarten students, and
Schools may accept only a written signed statement for a doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy as documentation of proof of varicella (chickenpox) disease for all incoming kindergarten students.
For children between the ages of 12 months and 12 years the minimum interval between varicella doses is 3 months.
Ensure that each student's immunizations are completed to Missouri State Requirements.
In adherence to Missouri State Immunization Laws, students will be excluded from school for incomplete immunization records except under physician care or because of religious exemption.

Communicable Disease Control
Students will be excluded from school for the following communicable diseases:
Chicken Pox: Until all lesions are scabbed over. (5-7 days)
Strep Throat and Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Until 24 hours after treatment
Head Lice and Scabies: In order to be readmitted to school, you must accompany your child to school for the recheck. The school nurse will check the child's head to make sure there are no nits or live lice present. After your child is clear, they may return to the classroom.
Medication Administration
Our Medication policy requires a written physicians' order as well as written parental consent. All medicine must come to school in the original container. Please contact the school nurse for authorization forms.
Administer daily medication as prescribed by private physician. Can be provided on an as needed basis/PRN or daily.
We can also provide some over-the-counter medicines under the direction of Dr. Sue Watson and the St. Francis Family Health Services in Maryville, MO. Please contact the school nurse for authorization form to provide these medicines.
