Computer Applications - 2 Semesters = 1 Credit (Required to graduate)
9th & 10th Grades No prerequisite
This course provides students with a basic understanding of technologies (Office software, components, history, graphics, ethics, security, networks, trends & careers). Projects and presentations are used to demonstrate learning and gain computer literacy. Notebooks and keyboarding skills are reviewed each quarter.
Desktop Publishing / Yearbook - 2 Semesters = 1 Credit
11th & 12th Grades Prerequisite: B or better in Computer Applications & Class Application
This course is designed for students who have an interest in preparing printed publications using a computer (Publisher & In Design). The class primarily plans, designs and produces the school annual. Basic digital photography is covered.
Advanced Computer Applications - 2 Semesters = 1 Credit
10th – 12th Grades Prerequisite: B or better in Computer Applications
This course builds on topics introduced in Computer Applications and provides students opportunities to develop skills in digital imaging/photography (Photoshop), animation (Image Ready) and multimedia/digital video (Moviemaker). In addition, students learn web authoring (HTML code & FrontPage) and assist with the school web site. A digital portfolio will be created to display progress.
S.O.T – Technology Student Assistant - 1 or 2 Semesters = ½ or 1 Credit
12th Grade Prerequisite: B or better in Computer Application & Teacher Approval
Students with a high level of interest in technology assist with routine maintenance, troubleshooting and hardware/software installation under the guidance of the Computer Teacher and Technology Director. They also are involved in staff support and peer-tutoring.
