| Admissions Requirements | Missouri State University Admissions Eligibility Calculator | While the ACT is not used by Missouri State University-West Plains for admissions, freshmen and transfer students with fewer that 24 hours of transferable college credit should have ACT scores on file and sit for a University-administered writing test for placement purposes prior to registration for classes. ACT scores must be less than five years old. If your ACT scores are not on your high school transcript, please request that the testing company send them to the Admissions Office. For students who have not taken the ACT at a national test site, Missouri State-West Plains offers a residual ACT. Contact the Student Advisement and Academic Support (SAAS) Center at 417-255-7222 for additional information. |
The College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) offers masters,
bachelor and associate degrees which can be completed through a
combination of evening and online courses. Our academic programs are
designed to meet the needs of working adults whose schedules do not
permit them to attend traditional day programs. |
OTC is an "Open Admission" institution. That means our requirements for
admission are either a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited
institution.Admission processes will be completed when the student's
placement test is finished. The student can use his or her ACT or ASSET
test results for placement. |
Prospective students must submit the following credentials before
registering: 1. A formal application for admission. 2. American College Test (ACT) Student Profile Report or SAT or ASSET or COMPASS Test scores. (In accordance with state law, test scores are required for placement in math, English, and reading.) 3. An official high school transcript that includes the date of graduation* or results of the General Education Development (GED) test and official transcripts from previous colleges or universities. 4. Documentation (required by Arkansas statute) of immunization for measles, rubella, and mumps. Two doses of measles, one dose of rubella, and one dose of mumps vaccine are required for incoming freshmen and foreign students. One dose of measles, one dose of rubella, and one dose of mumps vaccine are required for all other students. * A tentative admission decision can be made on the basis of a sevensemester high school transcript. |
Academic Ability Students should be in the top half of their graduating class and obtain our preferred score of 19 on the ACT or a 910 on the SAT. We pay particular attention not only to these factors, but also to the types of courses taken in high school and their levels of difficulty. It is to your advantage to have above average grades, especially in English classes. Remember…the College provides a scholarship for tuition to every student admitted; we want to do all we can to ensure we make investments in students who have a good track record in their academic experiences. |
