GOALS
OF THE A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM
As
specified by the Missouri
Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education, the three
primary goals of the A+ Schools
Program are:
-
to ensure that all
students graduate from high
school
-
to ensure that all
students complete a
selection of high school
studies that are challenging
and for which there are
identified learning
expectations
-
to ensure that all
students proceed from high
school graduation to a
college, post-secondary
vocational or technical
school, or to a high-wage
job with workplace skill
development opportunities.
The A+ Schools program
recognizes that the education of
all students is important,
regardless of their plans
following high school.
Consequently, the A+ Schools
program ensures that all
students will be provided
selections of courses, career
counseling, and technology
and/or workplace skill
development opportunities
appropriate to their career
goals. All students are asked to
select a career path, plan
coursework for all four years of
high school, and progress toward
a goal of additional training at
the post-secondary level or in a
high-wage job.
