Teaching Experience: I began my teaching experience at Immaculate
Conception School in Jackson, Missouri in 1994. I taught 8th grade
with several periods of 7th grade classes. My year spent at IC was
rewarding and uplifting. However, in the spring of 1995, a teaching
position opened at Leopold Elementary. I applied for the job and
subsequently was hired for the 4th grade. Shortly thereafter, the
5th grade position also became vacant, and I decided that might be a better
fit for me, so I applied for that position. That's where I have been
for the past thirteen years. I love my job, and I love my students.
It was been said that the perfect job is like getting paid for recess,
and that's what I feel like--I am getting paid to do a job that I absolutely
love!!!

Homework: I usually assign some for each subject, but most students

Family: My family consists of my husband Don, who is employed by
MAG Plastics, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have four children:
Shawn who is 33, lives in Cape Girardeau and is employed by DHL; Scott,
31, who is an insurance adjuster for Progressive and also lives in Cape;
Matt, 27, engaged to Lacy VanGennip, planning a fall wedding, and works
for Bankers Life; and Erin,
22, who just graduated from Mizzou and lives in Columbia, MO. We
have one grandchild, Calli, who will be 10 years old on October 5 (our
wedding anniversary!) and who is the pride and joy all of our lives.
She will begin 4th grade this fall at St. Mary's, Cape.
Other Interests/Hobbies: I definitely must put family on top of my list, as they are the center of my life. Next to them, however, I love cats and anything about them. (That may be why we currently have four cats, or to put it more accurately, they tolerate us!) Their names: Malibu, Wubbey, Beth, and Oliver. We have one wonderful dog named Lexy. I also love to garden and putter with flowers, read, and travel. After 34 years of marriage, spending time with my husband is still great fun, and our time spent together is wonderful!
