Character Traits

Each month at Smith-Hale we focus on a different character trait.  Teacher teams select students each month that typify that trait.  These students then receive a V.I.P. badge.  This badge allows students "free passes" as well as admission to selected school activities at no charge.  Listed below are those traits and their definitions.

September  - RESPECT - showing positive regard for self, others, and property.

October - RESPONSIBILITY - to be accountable for one's actions.

November - ACCOUNTABILITY - a willingness to be responsible for our actions and to accept the consequences of those actions.

December - COMPASSION - providing sympathetic action to others in an effort to assist.

January - COOPERATION - the action of working together for mutual benefit to accomplish a task.

February - RECOGNITION OF DIVERSITY - acknowledging differences and appreciating individuals as equal members of society.

March - HONESTY - a willingness to be truthful in both words and actions.

April - SELF-CONFIDENCE - belief in oneself and ability.
RESOURCEFULNESS - creating ways to achieve positive solutions or outcomes.

May - EMPATHY - our ability to relate to and understand the feelings of others.

Our overall goal for students at Smith-Hale is Integrity - demonstrating strength of character.
