The emphasis will be placed upon the development of map skills and the study of various regions of the world and their cultures. Each cultural area will be studied from three viewpoints: (1) how people adjust to their environment; (2) how people modify their environment; and (3) the relationship between geography and the contemporary scene.

Sociology - 1/2 Credit

The three paradigms of structural functionalism, conflict, and symbolic interactions will be examined during the discussion of a variety of topics including family, social status, religion, racial and ethnic inequalities, crime and deviance, and culture. Within this systematic framework, the fundamental data of social relations, social institutions, and social dynamics will be studied and synthesized.
