If a parent suspects that their child has a special education
disability, it is important that they relay their concerns.
The Special Education Process is long and time-consuming.
However, this is to ensure that the best decisions are made for the
individual student. The parent is an important part of this
process. Special Education provides services to a wide range of students with disabilities. Their disabilities are defined by a criteria set by both the Federal Government and the Missouri Legislature. In order for a student to be identified with a disability, criterion must be met in accordance with the Federal and State Laws and Regulations. Currently in the state of Missouri there are 14 categories of eligibility. Rigorous legal criteria must be met before a student can qualify for special education services. |
