Does writing a paper make you feel like this guy looks? Well, don't worry! It's not so bad if you take it one step at a time. Issue/defense papers are based on a controversial topic of your interest; so the first step to completing the paper is finding a topic that you actually have an opinion about! Below are some common paper topics. You may choose to use one of them or you may choose to come up with one on your own. Either way, the internet has some great resources available for you; you just have to find them. Each of the topics below includes at least one link to a web site with relevant information on that topic.
If none of these ideas interests you, you really need to visit the Yahoo Search Engine. Just type in your topic and ask it to search for you. It's a great internet tool! However, a note of warning--WATCH OUT FOR BOGUS SITES! Remember, anyone with a little computer know how can design a web site and say whatever he or she wants. In order to use internet information as a paper resource, you need to get your information from a credible source. Universities are usually safe - so are most national organizations; however, if you are in doubt, please ask the teacher to look at your information. It's better to be safe than sorry!
Need more sources? Link to EBSCO. This is a periodical database with more than 1,000 full text articles from journals and newspapers. Time to browse!
This database includes many journals that our school databases do not carry. Check this source out in addition to your searches on SIRS or Info Trac.
