SOUTHERN BOONE COUNTY R-1 HEALTH SERVICES

Health services include the prevention and control of communicable disease, basic first aid, comfort measures, dispensing of prescribed medications, health information and education, vision, hearing, head lice and scoliosis screenings, and insuring that state immunization laws are implemented in the school district.

In order for myself and other nursing staff to meet your child’s health needs, please provide the building secretary with current phone numbers and at least two emergency contacts.Keep these numbers updated throughout the school year to aid school officials in the event of an unexpected occurrence.

SCREENING SCHEDULES:

During the first few weeks of school your primary child will participate in the following screenings.

Kindergarten-Vision, Hearing, Head Lice, Height, Weight

First Grade-Vision, Hearing, Head Lice, Height, Weight

Second Grade-Head Lice , Height, Weight

Once the screenings are completed, you will be contacted in writing of any concerns that were found during the screenings.If your child showed no areas of concern you will not be contacted.

Any time that you or your child has a concern about their vision or hearing, you may request a screening.Just call my office or send a note to school with your child.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASES:

Please contact the health office when your child is ill.The nursing staff is required to keep track of all communicable diseases, ie- head lice, pink eye, pneumonia, strep throat.It would also be helpful to know if your child has had a recent ear infection, is taking antibiotics, or is scheduled for any surgeries.
