Career Day

On February 16th the Middle School will be conducting a career day.  Speakers from around the area will be presenting information about a variety of career choices.  Middle School is a time of career exploration for many students.  It helps for students to be aware of the tremendous variety of careers available.  We appreciate all of our speakers and their willingness to serve our students.

Safety

We urge everyone to  please use caution when dropping off or picking up students at the Middle School.  Due to the high volume of traffic this spring with track and baseball behind the Middle School buildings, we ask that students not be dropped off or picked up behind the buildings.  We hope this will ensure a greater degree of safety for our students when arriving and leaving school.

Middle School Yearbooks

The 2006-2007 Southern Boone County Middle School yearbook will begin sales in mid-late February.  Yearbooks cost approximately $15.00 and cover a wide variety of events throughout the year for 6th graders, 7th graders and 8th graders.  This year, however, is the first year that  SoBoCo students have actually been on the yearbook committee and worked hard, including taking pictures, yearbook layout and yearbook design, to prepare the yearbook for fellow students!  Students and teacher alike should be very excited about the yearbook!  Look for the upcoming order form to be sent home with students.

Dances

The 7th/8th Grade Fall Dance which has been postponed twice due to inclement weather, will be held on Friday night, March 9th  from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M.   The Spring Dance is planned for Friday night, May 4th.

Lunch Accounts

Lunch account balance letters are now being sent home only on Fridays.  Please encourage your child to bring these letters home so that you will be aware of their lunch account balance.  Please help us by ensuring that your child has a positive balance in their lunch account.

Spring Track

Middle School track practice will start on Tuesday, March 6, 2007.  Reminder that all athletes must have a current physical before they can participate.

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held March 1st and 2nd  for students who have been selected to meet with the teacher teams to help ensure student success.  If you do not receive a call about arranging a conference and wish to schedule one, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

Our expectation at Southern Boone County R-I Middle School is that our students will be safe, respectful, responsible learners!
