Only 25% of school districts in Missouri and about 40% of school buildings met this year’s proficiency targets for adequate yearly progress (AYP).  Under the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB), states must set AYP targets that become progressively more difficult.  This year 51% of the students had to score at the proficient level or higher for a school to met AYP target in Communication Arts and 45% in the area of Mathematics.
Southern Boone exceeded all targets in every building and made AYP.  Southern Boone was the only district in Boone County and one of two districts in our conference to achieve this designation.  Specific information can be reviewed at the following DESE web site, SoBoCo AYP.

The Board of Education for Southern Boone will review specific grade level and district results at the next Board of Education Meeting on August 18.
