Deann Woodward, president, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. with board members Teryl Malone, Harold DeVoe, Bill Lant, Tammy Blaylock and Gary Little present.  Joe Caputo was absent.

 

Mr. Lant made the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented, excluding the regular and additional bills.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Little, passed 6-0.  (See Attachment #1)

 

Mr. Lant made the motion to approve the regular and additional bills.  Motion was seconded by Mr. DeVoe, passed 5-0.  1-Abstain (Malone)

 

Mr. Cook introduced the Foreign Exchange students and presented them each a certificate.

Mr. Cook presented the 2008-09 Budget Document.  Mrs. Getchell presented the Missouri Achievement Program results and Mr. Evans presented and explained the Annual Performance Report.

 

Mr. Caputo entered the meeting at 6:14 p.m.

 

Mr. Randy Spaulding, Committee Chairperson, updated the board on the activities concerning the Bond Issue.  Packets are being prepared and will be distributed throughout the district Saturday, November 1, 2008. 

 

Mr. Cook presented a letter, which board members signed, showing their support for the upcoming bond issue.

 

Mr. Lant made the motion to approve the amended 2008-09 budget and budget document.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Malone, passed 7-0. (See Attachment #2)

 

Mr. DeVoe made the motion to approve a wavier for Holly Hymer to move to level 3 on Career Ladder.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Caputo, passed 7-0.

 

Mr. Lant made the motion to approve the FEMA Resolution as presented.  “Be it now resolved by the members of the Seneca R-7 Board of Education that on the 21st day of October, 2008 the Seneca Board of Education dedicates the FEMA Safe Room, in appreciation to the Emergency Responders, Firefighters, Storm Spotters, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Management and to the families who lost loved ones on May 10, 2008.”   Motion was seconded by Mr. DeVoe, passed 7-0.

 

The Celebration of Schools Banquet will be held at Carthage Memorial Hall, November 3, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.  Mr. Cook nominated People’s Bank of Seneca to receive an award for their outstanding dedication to the Seneca R-7 School District.

 

A short break was taken at 7:23 p.m.

 

Mr. Little made the motion to go into executive session at 7:43 p.m. as authorized by section 610.021, 610.022 for the purpose of personnel.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Caputo, passed 7-0 by roll-call vote.

 

Mr. Caputo made the motion to come out of executive session at 7:48 p.m.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Little, passed 7-0 by roll-call vote.

 

Mr. Lant made the motion to adjourn at 7:49 p.m.  Motion was seconded by Mr. Little, passed 7-0.
