MSCA Awards and Recognition
The Norman C. Gysbers Award is intended to recognize the school buildings or school districts in the state of Missouri that have demonstrated an exemplary level of implementation of the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program that, in turn, has resulted in a demonstrable, positive impact on its students. The Gysbers was developed by a committee that included professional school counselors, counselor administrators, counselor educators, and Missouri Department of Education personnel.
The Guidance and Placement Services Section of the Missouri Deprartment of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has developed the SUCCESS Award to recognize school districts or individual buildings within districts for their commitment to fully implementing a comprehensive guidance program focusing on the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. Full implementation further signifies that the program incorporates a results-based approach in the evaluation of its program using relevant student data to demonstrate the impact of guidance interventions on student outcomes.
MSCA Professional Recognition Awards for Individuals
Recognition is given annually to individuals who have made major contributions to the counseling profession as counselors, guidance directors/supervisors, and administrator/counselor advocates. The activity of accomplishments for which the nomination is made must have occurred within the last five years.
